The development of the economic theory is accompanied in different time and with various intensity by the interest in issues of economic growth and its determining factors. The object of the research is to search for the reason of unequal economic development in countries and in its regions and find ways how to avoid this unequal development. The contribution deals with the characteristics of meaningful theories of growth and it mentions the regional disparities of the Czech economy in the last decade.Finally it concludes with the solution for regional policy implication in connection with the theories of regional development, which have implemented the finding of theories of growth.

Vývoj ekonomické teorie v různém čase s různou intenzitou provází zájem o problematiku ekonomického růstu a faktorů, které jej determinují. Předmětem výzkumu je hledání příčin nerovnoměrného hospodářského vývoje v jednotlivých zemích a také v rámci jednotlivých regionů dané země a jejich eliminace. Příspěvek se stručně zabývá charakteristikou podstatných ekonomických růstových teorií, zmiňuje vývoj regionálních disparit v české ekonomice v posledním desetiletí a vyvozeny jsou závěry pro realizaci regionální politiky v souvislosti s teoriemi regionálního vývoje, které implementovaly poznatky růstových teorií.
