Quantification of the Direct Impact of the Creation of Jobs Created by FDI in Selected Regions

This contribution evaluates the impact of the creation of primary jobs in foreign direct investment inlocalized areas of the region NUTS 2 Northwest, specifically in Carlsbad and Ústí Region. The basicresearch question is, how foreign direct investment realized in the analyzed regions, contribute tosolving macroeconomic problem of high unemployment in this area. Based on comparative analysis ofinformation from the annual reports of companies and Czech Statistical Office data and CzechInvestis quantified impact of the direct effect of creating jobs in foreign direct investment, which acquiredinvestment incentives to unemployment in these regions. The contribution of these investments tosolution the problem of high unemployment rates is illustrated in a hypothetical rate ofunemployment, or more precisely what would be the status of the regional labor markets in case of anabsence of these investments. Based on a comparative analysis of data from the years 2002 - 2013analyzed FDI could reduce the regional unemployment rate by about 5.29 p. p. annually in the Ustiand about 2,43 p. p. annually in Carlsbad region. This quantified impact caused the creation of anaverage of 19.000 jobs in the Usti and 2.100 jobs created in the Carlsbad region.
