Using of Social Media in Recruitment: a Case of Small And Medium Sized Enterprises in Europe
Original language description
Nowadays, using of social media such as LinkedIn or Facebook has given SMEs a cost-effective way of interacting with and identifying potential employees. Previous research confirmed that HR specialist and job seekers more and more often use social media to assist them in their job searches. Human resource management in general was identified as specific in small and medium sized companies comparing to large companies. The paper aims to introduce using of social media in HR processes, mainly in recruitment from perspective of small and medium sized enterprises. In the first part it provides a literature overview on this topic as well as inform about results of previous studies introducing this topic. It analyses possi-bilities and advantages and disadvantages of using of social media for recruitment in SMEs in con-nection with the current situation in the labour market in Europe. Second part of the paper brings selected primary data and first results of a survey carried out between Czech SMEs, mainly in the Liberec region. It confirms some barriers and deficient use of social media in HR processes and pro-poses future perspective and their potential for support of companies’ brand value. On the other hand Big businesses and executive recruiters are turning to social media in droves as a method of finding qualified job candidates. However it also confirms the social media become more and more important in the Czech companies not only for recruitment, but also for other important communication forms inside and outside companies.
