In the first part of this paper the main area of technical textiles applications are summarized. The basic ways of development in this field are shown. The second part is devoted to the selected activities of National Textile Research Centre II (NTRC), NCTR is five-year project administrated by Czech ministry as a continuation of the project of the TEXTIL Centre I.
