SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY IN ANALYSIS OF SOFT BODY ARMORS
Original language description
Ballistic vests, bulletproof vests or bullet-resistant vests are specific personal armor which absorb and disperse the impact energy that is transmitted to the ballistic vest from the bullet. Additional energy should be absorbed by the rest of material layers until such time as the bullet has been stopped. Main aim of this article is to show damage degree of two ballistic vests cased by typical testing in accordance with NATO STANAG and NIJ US Standard. All bullet impacts were detected macroscopically to evaluate the trauma effect and SEM microscopy was applied to observe the degree of material damage.
