This paper discusses about the special properties of Aerogel. Various papers and experiments conducted to study the Pore structure, Density, Optical properties, Thermal conductivity, Velocity of sound and mechanical properties, hydrophobicity and their synthesis have been reviewed. The possible applications of Aerogels to Textile and Apparel Industry have also been studied. To understand the metamorphosis of Aerogels, the papers published during this century have been studied.
