3D ARAMID FABRICS FOR COMPOSITE REINFORCEMENT
Original language description
The aim of this work is to investigate and compare the mechanical behavior of 2D and 3D woven fabrics which were made of aramid fibers. Therefore, 2D plain woven fabrics with different layers and 3D orthogonal fabrics which were made by using different fiber fineness were prepared and tested. The results showed that the 2D plain woven fabric had higher strength and lower elongation than 3D orthogonal fabrics, as well as better performance for preventing knife penetration. But the 3D orthogonal fabrics had better impact property due to the higher breaking load and energy adsorption. Thereby, for the fabric end application, the 2D plain woven fabrics would be better than 3D orthogonal fabrics.
