Increasingconcernfortheenvironment has stimulatedinterest in theresearch and developmentofselfreinforced polymer compositematerials. The preparation, properties and applications of self-reinforced polymeric materials (SRPMs), represents an emerging family of composite materials. These materials are anemergingclassofcompositematerialswithmechanicalpropertiescomparable to heterogeneouscomposites. Selfreinforcedcompositesdeveloper from polypropylene micropowderused as matrix and 100 % polypropylenefiber web, net,fiber as reinforcementused to developselfreinforced polypropylene composites by layerstacking and twostageconsolidation and compactionmethod. TheSRPMs are fullyrecyclable and havespecificeconomic and environmentalbenefits. Thesmallmeltingtemperaturedifferencebetweenthefiber and the matrix poses a greatchallenge in thefabricationofSRPMs.
