Effect of finishing process on triple plied compact yarn
Original language description
In this paper, a comparative analysis is carried out on the effect of finishing process on conventional ring and compact plied yarn properties. 60 Ne cotton yarns with different single twist factor (?s 3 to 5) are produced using conventional ring and compact spinning machines. Three single yarns among produced yarns are assembled and plied using different plied twist factor (?p 3 to 5) and finished accordingly. Finishing process included singeing (only for conventional ring yarns), mercerizing and dying. It was found that the properties of compact yarns have higher mechanical properties before and after applying finishing process even the relative improvement in the conventional ring yarn properties was higher. The hairiness of finished compact yarn (not singed) was better compared to the conventional singed ring spun yarn. A graphical method along with a programming code was used to find the range of single and ply twist to be inserted to fulfill some given properties such as strength
