Nanofiber Drain for Glaucoma Drainage Implants
Original language description
Problems of commercially produced glaucoma implants are often associated with undesired fibrosis, damage to adjacent tissue, uncomfortable feeling for the patient, and many others. This study reports the development of nanofibrous non-biodegradable drainage devices for drain of fluid in glaucoma disease. The main goal is the size of the implant and patient comfort, especially the sensation of a foreign object in the eye. Glaucoma implant was prepared by the electrospinning technology. The special structure of this implant provides easy removal fluid from the eye. The material was tested for liquid transport and in-vitro cell adhesion tests. The first results show great potential in the use of the implant.
