New Kind of Nonwovens with Controlled Thickness and Thermal insulation

  • Original language description

A novelty in mechanical surface bonding is developed at the Textile Faculty of TUL. Based on mechanical twisting of fibre ends outstanding from the fabric surface to „quasi-yarns“ and based on mechanical bonding of a suitable armour grid by these „quasi yarns“ to the one or both surfaces of a fixed structure, the new technique fixes the 3D structure faster and relatively inexpensive in comparison with conventional stitch-bonding. The article describes principles and conditions of building of quasi-yarns, their cohesion dependence on technological parameters and describes conditions of an application the mentioned technique on the 3D nonwoven structures. A suitable device is described where the new bonding technique with quasi yarns can be applied. There are also described 3D textile structures, which are possible to be used for preparation of high thermal insulation layers. The current book is the THIRD in a series of manuscripts under “PROGRESS IN FIBROUS MATERIAL SCIENCE”. These books are collection of chapters dealing with state of the art technologies and the science of polymeric materials in specific.
