Characterization and preparation of composite scaffolds for biomedical applications
Original language description
This paper deals with the characterization and preparation of collagen hydrogels and their suitability for the creation of a composite scaffold consisting of a micro / nano fiber carrier and a biocompatible hydrogel. The experiment uses collagens available from the collaboration with the Biomedical Center of the Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University in Pilsen. Collagens were from rat tail skin, rat tail tendon, pig skin and calf skin. The fibrous carrier was made by meltblown technology from polycaprolactone. Tests performed during the experiment include measurements of: material solubility, gelling time, viscosity and in vitro studies comparing cell viability in the fiber system, in the hydrogel and in the composite material composed of fibers and hydrogel.
