Adaptive wavelet methods for two-dimensional elliptic operator equations

  • Original language description

The effectiveness of adaptive wavelet methods is strongly influenced by the choice of a wavelet basis, in particular by the condition of the basis. In our contribution, we compare for several wavelet bases the number of iterations needed to resolve the problem with desired accuracy for wavelet bases adapted to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions of the first order. Numerical examples are presented for two-dimensional elliptic problems with a singular right-hand side.
