In this paper, we compare condition numbers of wavelet transforms for various constructions and we show that wavelet bases from [D. Černá, V. Finěk: Optimized Construction of Biorthogonal Spline-Wavelets] outperform the others from the viewpoint of numerical stability of wavelet transform. Furthermore, we use the constructed wavelet bases for wavelet image compression and we show that the error of the compression is smaller for the discrete wavelet transform with derived edge filters than for other methods using an extension of an image.
