The paper is concerned with a lossy wavelet based image compression. We use a modified discrete wavelet transform with recently derived boundary filters. We show that then the boundary and tiling artifacts are significantly reduced and that the error ofthe compression is smaller for our approach than for other methods using an extension of an image.
