Inteferometry based methods for Research of piezoelectric materials
Original language description
The applications of laser interferometry in research of piezoelectric materials are presented. Piezoelectric, electrostrictive, electro- optical and thermal expansion coefficients were measured by these methods. The usage of the Michelson single interferometer to measure piezoelectric induced strain in bulk samples is described. The more sophisticated Mach ? Zehnder double beam interferometer is used for the investigation of the piezoelectric thin film deposed on the substrate to compensate substrate vibration. Both homodyne interferometers are measuring amplitude of piezoelectrically induced sample vibrations. Use of the lock-in amplifier technique enables very small amplitudes of the order of 10-12 m to be measured. The experimental problems and limits of this method used for piezoelectric research were analyzed in detail.
