Microstructural Study of Weld Joint Made of Cast P91 Steel after Creep Testing

Result description

Trial weld joint wetre creep tested at temperatures from 525°C to 625°C and stresses from 50 MPa to 240 MPa. At temperatures up to 575°C it falls into the 20% scatter band of the creep strength of the base material; at higher temperatures it decreases bellow this scatter band. The failure was concentrated in the fine grain heat affected zone, in the region with a large area of prior austenitic grain boundaries, high density of coarse precipitates and relatively low density of fine vanadium carbonitrides.
