Gendered Talk: Conversational Dominance and Cooperation in Online Chat.
Original language description
The paper examines the means of conversational dominance and cooperation in online chat to determine if face-to-face conversation strategies can be applied to and hold true in computer-mediated communication. The analytical part provides an enumeration of the topics which the males and females in the corpus introduced into discussion, distinguishing between the topics that were developed by other users and those which proved non-productive. Secondly, the study looks into the issue of giving minimal responses and posing questions as a means of conversational cooperation.
