The comparison of the returns and risks of the stock markets in the Czech Republic, Poland and EMU-countries has confirmed that correlation coefficients of stock market returns for the Czech Republic, Poland and EMU-countries are generally positive but low. The correlation between the Czech and Polish stock market movements is still higher than the correlation between the Czech or Polish market and the one in the EMU-countries. A low correlation can contribute to a lower portfolio risk and be applied tothe portfolio diversification, but capitalization of stock markets in the Czech Republic and Poland in an international context is low.
