Influence of Unemployment Rate on Aggregate Income Uncertainty in Selected EU Countries
Original language description
The main aim of this article is to study mutual relationship between unemployment rate and an aggregate income uncertainty in selected European countries. As a measure of income uncertainty, the consumption of durable goods - in this case the index of new-registered motor vehicles - was used. Results of this analysis are partially in accord with conclusions of the analysis of Malley and Moutos (1996), who have tested the assumption that the aggregate unemployment rate is a valuable measure of aggregateincome uncertainty, appearing as a decrease in the consumption of durable goods. This analysis, based on the selected EU members data, supports the assumption, that increase in index of new-registered motor vehicles is bound with decreased unemployment rate.
