Effect of different tillage systems for winter wheat on physical properties of soil
Original language description
An on-site field trial was established in the Research Institute of Fodder Crops Ltd. in Troubsko u Brna in 1996. The plot is situated in a sugar-beet growing area, There were based five treatments of the soil tillage. It has been found that physical properties of soil were affected by different tillage practices for winter wheat. Higher bulk density and lower porosity have always been related to minimum tillage or direct drilling. Under drier conditions of cultivation there was a marked deficiency of water with tillage system whereas treatments with stubble retention and direct drilling were characterised by more soil water content owing to better water holding capacity.
