Modelling and modal properties of a four-axle locomotive

  • Original language description

The paper deals with mathematical modelling of vibration and modal analysis of a four-axle locomotive with two bogie. Each bogie has two individual wheelset drives. The modelling method is based on the system decomposition into seven subsystems ? two individual wheelset drives and bogie frames in each bogie and the car body ? and on modelling of couplings among subsystems. The eigenvalues of a linearized autonomous model and stability conditions are investigated in dependence on longitudinal creepage and forward velocity of the locomotive. The model is prepared for dynamic response investigation caused by different vibration sources of locomotive excitation.
