Parametric calculations of allowable operating stresses in vehicle components under fatigue loading
Original language description
This study presents two possible approaches to calculating the fatigue service life of a structural detail of the body of a road vehicle. The first approach, which is more common, relies on laboratory fatigue testing of the detail. Its underlying assumption is that it is possible to determine the actual stresses on the detail using strain-gauges fitted to a vehicle prototype in service. In the other approach, design stress spectra are generated and input into parametric calculation to find the maximum allowable service stresses at which the desired fatigue service life of the structural detail of the body is still guaranteed.
