Thermo-mechanical Treatment of Chromium Alloyed Low Carbon Steel
Original language description
Several methods of thermo-mechanical processing were applied to 0.2%C-0.6%Mn-2S%i-0.8%Cr low alloyed high strength steel. The aim of the processing was to achieve TRIP (transformation induced plasticity) steels complex microstructures. Thermo-mechanical processing was carried out at thermo-mechanical simulator, applying two or three deformation steps. The deformations were in always carried out during the cooling from soaking temperatures to various bainite hold temperatures. The final microstructures consisted of ferrite, bainite, martensite and pearlite and about 4- 10% of retained austenite. The complex character of TRIP steel microstructure was responsible for its good strength and ductility. The strengths achieved in this work were around 800 MPa with ductility A5mm above 31%.
