Comparative Study Of Variable Speed Drives In Power Systems; Part 1: General Problems
Original language description
This report is a first, general part of series of reports dealing with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) particularly intended for high-power pumps and fans. The area where these VSDs are employed is very large. This report exactly focuses on particular applications of boiler feed pumps and flue exhausters placed at power and heating plants. The main attention is in this report paid to configurations, basic features, behavior and efficiency of common drives with emphasis on hydrodynamic couplings and frequency converters as most sophisticated systems at present. The aim of this report is to highlight benefits and drawbacks of particular drive configurations. The mentioned drives are discussed in this report not only from the technical but also from economical and reliability point of view.
