The aim of this paper is to take a rough estimate of the power losses of transformer magnetic core. This transformer is supply by non-harmonic voltage, the frequency is varying from 50 Hz up to 900 Hz. This paper describes the preliminary test of the transformer of a power 45 kVA. The real transformer has the power 100 kVA and it is used as a power source for helping drives on the locomotive for Czech railways.
