    This paper deals with photovoltaic cells 1st and 2nd generation. The first part of paper is very shortly introduction to photovoltaic and problematic of three photovoltaic cells generations. The biggest part of the paper is concerned with basic similarities and differences between cells 1st and 2nd generation. Similarities in working principle, differences in configuration, production and properties are presented here among others.
