Application of Alternative Tools for Basic Load Flow Analysis
Original language description
Nowadays, many commercial and free softwares are being used for performing the load flow analysis of electric power systems. Majority of them is designed to handle even more advanced tasks such as optimal power flow, contingency analysis, security-constrained optimization, voltage stability, etc. Up to now, however, reliability of the calculation process and accuracy of results have still remained the serious topic of importance and of possible problems. In this paper, the main goal is to examine several alternative tools for providing reliable and exact load flow solutions. Although the primary focus of these softwares is placed on different types of problems, their numerical methods and engines can be robust enough to be applied also for load flow analysis. Results for broad range of test systems are mutually compared in terms of solution accuracy and calculation times.
