Existing methods of impulse testing of high-voltage insulation are discussed and their applicability to a hybrid gas-solid system is examined. The experiments were performed following the up-and-down and multi-level stress test procedures. In the former,the influence of different rating times between test voltage applications as well as the effect of conditioning with ac voltage on the test results was analysed.
