Identification of the aging process of the glass fibre insulating material by the method of fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
Original language description
Identifying the degree of aging represents in electrical engineering a very important task. Owing to aging processes the number of failures may increase, which can lead to the destruction of the entire power unit, in which the individual materials are used. For this reason, it is necessary to use convenient diagnostic tools that can identify the changes between the different levels of aging. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) is one of these methods. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the possibility of application of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and method of Discriminant analysis (DA) for classification of aging of glass fibre insulating material. Infrared spectra were measured on samples in virgin state and after 10, 20 and 30 hours of thermal aging. Spectral information for DA model was obtained from region 1810 - 1325 cm-1. All measured spectra were normalized on the area of spectral band of glass fibre (1155 - 870 cm-1). Regarding the resul
