Temperature detection of induction-heated parts using a Kalman filter

  • Original language description

The field of induction systems has experienced significant development in recent years, with increasingly widespread applications across various industrial sectors such as metallurgy, the automotive industry, and the production of machine components. This trend is primarily driven by the high energy efficiency of induction heating, its speed, the ability for precise control, and the growing pressure to reduce operational costs due to the continuously rising energy prices. However, the efficiency and quality of the induction heating process are highly dependent on a range of factors. Among the key factors are proper system setup, the selection of appropriate operating parameters (e.g., frequency, power, heating time), and, importantly, the physical and material properties of the heated workpiece, such as electrical conductivity, permeability, or the geometry of the part. One of the most critical parameters that significantly influences the entire heating process as well as the final product properties is the temperature of the heated material. Accurate real-time monitoring and control of the temperature are essential not only for ensuring the desired product quality but also for optimizing energy consumption and extending the service life of the equipment.
