The Battle for the Church of St. Francis in Pilsen
Original language description
Oresentation deals with process of hegemonization between two discourses related to religion in the context of intra-parish civic engagement. In the qualitative research (using Constructivist Grounded Theory approach) we identify two discourses of religiosity: Tradition discourse and Hopster-culture discourse. The clash / struggle between them was done in the context of discusing building of new church and its funcionality. Proces of hegemonization is supported mostly by hierarchical strucutre, that allows construction and recosntruction of Hipster-culter discourse (related to horizontality and comunion aspect of church), but also highlating of Tradition discourse, depending on people in key positions in the Parish. In fact, during period of construction and reconstraciotn of Hipster-Culture discourse, youths were engaged in intra-church civic engagement. After acceptance of monofunctionality of planned building and Tradition discourse, there were decline of intra-parish civic engagement of youths.
