The Obscenities and Audiences of Peter Fallon
Original language description
This article discusses Peter Fallon's poetry as both regional and global, tracing the development of voice and audience over his career. There is also a focus on the pastoral nature of his landscapes, and their relations to his chosen communities, as well as relations with animals (especially in his collection The Company of Horses). By abandoning the idea of poetry as romantic self-expression, Fallon has learned how to write a poetry that brings in both the voices of his community in Co. Meath and thefauna of that place.
