Interest of primary school pupils in technical activities and technical education
Original language description
The monograph Interest of Primary School Pupils in Technical Activities and Technical Education deals with issues of interest/ non-interest of primary school pupils in science, technology and further study of technical study programs. The increasing level of pupils' lack of interest in technical education in Slovakia started to be alarming almost 20 years ago. The situation nowadays is dire as there are not enough graduates from these study programs to meet the demand of the labor market. We are experiencing a shortage of skilled workers in various professions, especially in the field of technical production and technical services. This is a very important societal problem for Slovakia as it already threatens not only the production sphere (e.g. the problem of replacing the "older", experienced professionals such as designers, technologists, metalworkers, etc., but also future development) but also the future of the industry and its impeding transformation in terms of the needs of the Fourth Industrial Revolution known as Industry 4.
