Aspects of modelling ductile fracture
Original language description
Numerous observations confirm that ductile fracture of metals is related to extensive porosity caused by initiation and growth of microcavities followed by their coalescence into macrocavities. This phenomenon taking place at micro-level can not be described with traditional constitutive equations of mechanics of continuum. Therefore new micro-mechanical models such as the modified Gurson model are being developed. The greatest advantage of these models is in comparison to other model combining damage and plasticity is their straightforward physical interpretation. Moreover, the geometrical independence of the parameters of micro-mechanical models predestinates their convenient use for the problems of nonlinear fracture mechanics.
