Stress relaxation and elastic bounds of a viscoelastic microstructured material
Original language description
We develop the constitutive model of a special material which microscopic structure is formed by regularly arranged elastic inclusions floating in a viscoelastic matrix. The model is tested by numerical simulations of unidirectional mechanical tests controlling the sample strain. The evolution of the stress shows that the viscoelastic behavior is bounded by two elastic laws corresponding to the mechanical behavior the medium would have if the matrix did not deform and the one the material would have ifthe matrix were not viscous. Moreover, the true stress/strain law is tangent to the first elastic law at small strain while it tends toward the latter one when the strain becomes larger. Transition from one tangent to the other can be so sharp that a local maximum of stress can appear resulting in an original kind of stress relaxation.
