A note on isogeometric analysis
Original language description
Recently, Hughes et al. in [5] proposed a concept of the so-called isogeometric analysis { the method for numerical solving of partial dierential equations based on nite element method and geometric modeling. The main advantages of isogeometric analysisare an exact representation of objects of interest and the possibility to omit generation of a triangular (quadrangular) mesh which is very time-consuming (because NURBS representation used in CAD/CAM system is also used for the analysis). In this paper,we present a brief overview of the method with necessary relations to nite element method and NURBS theory. Examples will be also demonstrated. [5] Hughes, T. J. R., Cottrell, J. A., Bazilevs, Y.: Isogeometric analysis: CAD, finite elements, NURBS, exact geometry and mesh refinement. Computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, Vol. 194, pp. 4135-4195, 2005.
