    Software for simulation of perfusion in contracting fish heart

  • Original language description

    The software implements an advanced macroscopic model of the fish heart muscle tissue perfused by the blood. The fish (carp) heart has a spherical shape with two distinct layers: inner layer containing the highly porous tissue able to suck in and out a significant volume of blood - the spongious myocardium, and the outer layer containing the tissue with active muscle fibres - the compact myocardium. The model of the inner layer is formulated in terms of the displacements of the solid component and the pressure of the blood in the pores. The outer layer is modeled using the theory of mixtures as a composite of the matrix and the active muscle fibres. A finite element mesh corresponding to this division is the input of the software. The large deformations of the whole heart are described using the total Lagrangian formulation. The software allows imposing various boundary and loading conditions, for example internal blood pressure, anisotropic activation of the muscle fibres, etc. as wel
