Identification of material parameters of cork-rubber composite based on uniaxial and biaxial experiments

  • Original language description

Cork-rubber composites are modern materials with high capability to reduce noise, vibrations and impacts due to viscoelastic behavior. These materials are composed of natural particles of cork and elastomers. In most applications, the cork-rubber composites are used in combination with other materials as part of hybrid composite structures, where soft cork-rubber layers are covered by hard shells made of metals or CFRP composites. Identification of material parameters of viscoelastic materials is a nontrivial task, because the behavior of viscoelastic materials is time and rate dependent. To identify the behavior of cork-rubber composite, several uniaxial and biaxial experiments were performed. Corresponding FE simulations in Abaqus were created based on the experiments. Material parameters were calibrated using numerical optimization methods where the difference between results of experiments and FE simulations was minimized. Resultant material parameters and the process of the identification allow to create more precise FE model of cork-rubber composites.
