Finite element analysis of braided composite tubes with Kapton tape
Original language description
This work focuses on the numerical modelling of behavior of composite braided tubes with separated (discontinuous) layers and with inserted Kapton tape. The tubes are made by braiding of glass fiber bundles on a cylindrical mandrel and by the application of epoxy resin. The purpose of the layer separation and the incorporation of Kapton tape between neighboring layers is motivated by the improvement of the electrical insulation capabilities in case of high-voltage applications.
