Detection models for Virtual Reality in surgery training

  • Original language description

The software developed within this project focuses on advanced AI-based detection models designed for real-time use in virtual reality (VR) surgical training environments. Building on prior research and development in automated video analysis of surgical procedures, the system was created in close cooperation with the Universitätsklinikum Jena. The delivered solution integrates computer vision and deep learning techniques to detect and localize surgical instruments and objects related to the operation field, directly within VR simulations. The detection models are optimized for low-latency inference and robustness under varying visual conditions, which is essential for immersive and interactive training scenarios.
