XRD analysis of coarse crystalline materials
Original language description
X-ray diffraction rings produced by coarse grained materials are split into individual spots (reflections) which are diffraction images (photographs) of corresponding crystallites. Analysis of the size, shape, orientation and distribution of diffracted intensity through the diffraction spots is capable of revealing some useful information on the structure of such materials which cannot be obtained by other techniques. In the present contribution, a number of examples are given to illustrate this capacity when studying structure of both bulk and thin layer ceramics, recrystallization of nickel-based alloys and errosion-corrosion resistence of austenitic steels.
