Original language description
To find out what causes stress in seniors, how they experience and manage it. Methods: Qualitative method in the form of half-structured interviews was used in this research based on the definition of social determinants of health given by Marmot and Kebza. A total 17 interviews were conducted with seniors with the average age of 83, both women and men living in the region of České Budějovice. Results: Asked respondents were content with their situation and knew what to do in case of stress or how to prevent it. It is clear and written also by many authors that the priority need for quality life in senior age are psychosocial needs. Social contact and support is important as well as belonging, communication, being heard and sharing the possibility to decide and being useful.Conclusion: We presume that possible intervention preventing future stress is activation in the psychosomatic area, offering a selection of solutions to stressful situations mainly through mutual communication.
