• Original language description

A two-day intensive workshop for students of bachelor's and master's study programs in English and other interested students and teachers of JU focused on Irish literature and culture with the participation of staff from the Center of Irish Studies of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University and other experts. Irish studies is an attractive cultural area that is both part of and distinct from Anglophone culture. In the Czech cultural environment, Irish studies have a strong tradition and are currently at an excellent international level. Within the study programs at ÚAN FF JU, there is not enough time and space to devote to acquainting students with this area and its research; the purpose of the workshop was to compensate for this gap and at the same time to provide students and members of the JU academic community with an opportunity to meet leading Czech scholars of Irish studies and stimulate their interest in this field. Participants included the Director of the Center for Irish Studies, prof. Ondřej Pilného, Ph.D., other members of the center doc. Clare Wallace, Ph.D., Radvan Markus, Ph.D., Daniela Theinová, PhD (all FF UK) and Einat Adar (FF JU), as well as Michaela Marková, Ph.D. (TUL), James Little, Ph.D. (Trinity College Dublin) and others.
