Influence of breeding technology on the occurence of cryptosporidia in cattle
Original language description
Eleven dairy and eleven beef farms with 4 different types of breeding technology were examined from 2001 to 2003 in South Bohemia, Czech Republic. Fecal samples (4291 from dairy and 2748 from beef animals) were collected and examined for the occurence ofCryptosporidium oocysts. The species C. parvum is not frequent in beef cattle and is common in both dairy breeds. Cryptosporidium andersoni was detected in the breeds where calves were in direct contact with dams. Intensities of C. parvum infection decreased in relation to the age of animals while intensites of C. andersoni infection had opposite tendency.
