Our work focused on operational and experimental analysis of saturation of sheep with selenium and the results show that in submountain regions of southern and western Bohemia it is impossible to provide ewes with standardized need for selenium (Se) unless the bulk feed contains additive mineral lick. Se content in blood without suplementary Se ranged from 35,4 - 62,3 ?g? l-1. Under operational conditions the positive effect of Se blood content on ?-globulins rate was not proved in ewes. If the goitrogen load was compensated, parellel additive uptake of 0,15 mg of selenium and 0,25 mg of iodine per animal per day proved to have a positive effect on increased proteosynthesis and rise in both absolute and relative presence of gamma-globulins. Iodine wasdelivered in the form of KI and selenium in the form of sodium selenite in week intervals s.c.. 4,0 g of nitrates and 4,2 mmol glucosinolates were delivered per animal per day.
