Polymorphism of 10 microsatellites recommended by ISAG for parentage testing was analysed in the Czech population of Holstein cattle. A total of 89 alleles were identified; their number varied from 5 in BM1824 to 14 in TGLA122. Heterozygosity ranged from0,675 (TGLA126) to 0,827 (TGLA227). Polymorphic information content (PIC) in all alleles exceeded 0,5. Exclusion probability was lowest in SPS115 (0,387 for 2 parents and offspring; exclude a parent). Cumulative EP over all loci reached 0,99. Accordingto EP values, the rejection of parentity should be based on 2 discrepancies between progeny and putative parents genotypes, at least, as single discrepancies could be caused by mutation or mistake in genotyping
