The driving forces of land use changes in different agricultural production areas in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

Man has always been forced to understand the nature and the landscape in order to survive. The original mainly forested landscape was gradually settled and by cultivation transformed to the predominantly urbanized landscape. Consequently there were formed many different types of landscape according to the degree human use, from a completely natural landscape, to completely transformed human. The intensity of human influence has been given by the historical development of a specific territory and largely confined just by its natural conditions. The main reason for examining the historical development of the landscape is the fact that understanding the past, we can better understand the future development. The theme of land use and landscape structure is extremely wide as well as very important and it is the basic issue in all scientific disciplines related to the landscape. Changes in the use of agricultural land brought about the end of the 20th century led to the transformation of EU Common Agricultural Policy. Land managers can benefit from financial support for the implementation of measures to increase the stability of the agricultural landscape. The aim of this work is to analyze the factors that influenced the development of land use on the basis of available data in different production areas of the Czech Republic. This analysis was performed on the model area of the South Bohemian Region. Separately there will be analyzed the development of land registered in the cadastre and its real presentation in maps and images.
