Original language description
Municipal solid waste, general and organic, is generated continuously along with population growth and economic development. It is predicted that the world's waste will increase progressively to 3.4 billion tons by 2050. The rapid generation of wastes means the environment is paying a high price which affects human health through factors such as air pollution and water pollution. This chapter highlights organic waste - its characteristics, methods and technologies for its disposal, and ways to minimize the impact on the environment, in order to achieve the zero-waste goal and the circular economy in the near future.
