The content of thyroxin (T4) and triiodthyronine (T3) was observed in four groups of sheep (n=6) for 382 days. The groups P1, P2, K1 were daily loaded by 4.2 mmol of glucosinolates and 4g of NO3 per head. The groups P1 and K2 w ere daily supplemented byiodine (250mg) and selenium (150mg) per head. The group P2 was treated only with iodine (250mg). The mean concentration of iodine in blood plasma in group K1 was 39.9+5.9 mg.l-1. The lowest concentration of T4 60.7 nmol.l-1 in group K1 was also responding to this find. It was proved that supplementation of iodine significantly increased the content of iodine and T4 in blood plasma. This increase was concurrently improved by the supplementation of selenium. The goitrogenic effect of the intake of glucosinolates and NO3 in ewes was apparent from the decreased concentration of T4 in blood plasma in the group K1 during the peripartum period.
